AGNES SCOTT COLLEGE RANKED #1 MOST INNOVATIVE FOR THE FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
First-year experiences, undergraduate teaching, social mobility and study-abroad opportunities are among other top rankings highlighted in the 2022-2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings.
September 12, 2022 (Decatur, Georgia) – For an unprecedented fifth year in a row, Agnes Scott College has been recognized as the nation’s #1 most innovative liberal arts college according to the 2022-2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. The college maintained its #1 spot for first-year experiences, placed #3 for learning communities and rose to #3 for study abroad and #6 for senior capstone, among all U.S. higher education institutions. Among liberal arts colleges, Agnes Scott also ranked #3 for best undergraduate teaching and #7 for social mobility. Additionally, Agnes Scott jumped up 14 spots to #26 among Best Value Schools.

The 2022-2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings are an important tool as students and their families begin to research their higher education options. More than 1,500 schools were ranked on 17 measures of academic quality, including graduation and retention rates, social mobility, faculty resources, financial resources per student and average alumni giving rate. Data is collected each spring and summer from schools, while a peer assessment survey of college and university leaders collects additional information used to calculate an academic reputation score.
Founded in 1889, today’s Agnes Scott represents a diverse community with nearly 60 percent of the student body representing communities of color. One-third identify as African-American and 14 percent Hispanic. Two of every five Agnes Scott students are Pell-Grant eligible and 29 percent are first-generation college students, both indicators of socioeconomic diversity and opportunities for increased social mobility.
