Agnes Scott College Students Achieve 100% Medical School Acceptance Rate

DECATUR, Ga. – During the 2022-2023 medical school application cycle, 100% of qualified Agnes Scott College master’s and post-baccalaureate students were admitted to the medical school or health professions program of their choice. Including undergraduate students, 96% of all qualified Agnes Scott students were admitted.

Qualified applicants are defined as those who completed their program at Agnes Scott with a 3.50 GPA or higher and scored at or above the 50th percentile on the MCAT/DAT/GRE. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, medical schools receive many more qualified applications than they can interview or enroll each year. In the 2022-2023 cycle, the average cumulative GPA and MCAT score for matriculants to medical school was 3.75 and 83rd percentile, respectively.

Agnes Scott students were admitted to: Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Medical College of Georgia, University of Kentucky College of Medicine, University of Kansas School of Medicine, Mercer University School of Medicine and Physician Assistant Program, Morehouse School of Medicine, and University of New England College of Dental Medicine, among others.

“These impressive outcomes are evidence of Agnes Scott College being the premier institution for post-baccalaureate pre-medical education in the Southeast. Our commitment to student’s professional success is unparalleled,” said Dr. Kelly H. Ball, associate vice president and dean for graduate studies at Agnes Scott College.

“This was the best investment in myself that I have ever made,” said Elijah Collins, who is enrolled in the Post-Baccalaureate Program. “This program will prepare you for whatever path you are trying to take. The support is there, the resources to be successful are there, failing is not possible if you use the resources provided to you from the program.”

Agnes Scott attributes the 100% admission rate–up from 90% over the 2014-2020 cycles– to its innovative curriculum, which offers physician-designed and physician-taught signature courses, test preparation courses, and health professions advising. “I curated my experience within the program to create the best possible outcomes for me as a pre-med student,” said Jordan Paster, MS’23. “I appreciated the advisors who were available to assist me with picking medical schools, my personal statement, and volunteer opportunities. I’m graduating with a Master of Science in Medical Science as a better student than when I came in.”

The Office of Graduate Advising, led by Dr. Elizabeth Henry, supports Agnes Scott College’s graduate, post-bacc, and undergraduate students who are pursuing medicine and other competitive health professions with the support of health professions advisors Kimberly Butler and Sean Walsh.
